- Standardised to 25% anthocyanosides - Enhanced with Grape skin extract - Helps to keep the eye bright Bilberry also known as European Blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a member of the genus Vaccinium, consisting of more than 200 species of berries like American Blueberry and Cranberry. The main active ingredient in bilberries is a group of flavonoids known as anthocyanosides. There are more than 15 different anthocyanosides found in bilberry. The concentration of anthocyanosides in fresh bilberry ranges from 0.1 to 0.25%, versus 25% in standardised concentrated extract of Bilberry. It was observed during the 2nd World War that British Royal Air Force pilots reported improved visual ability in dimmed environment after taking blue berries jam regularly. For supplement the equivalent is 2 capsules 2-3 times daily taken at regular interval. This formula is specially added with grape skin extract a rich source of grape polyphenols to enhance the potency of bilberry anthocyanosides. Extensive studies confirms that Bilberry anthocyanoside extracts are extremely safe. Rats administered doses as high as 400mg per kg showed no apparent side effects and excess were quickly excreted through urine and bile. Scientific References 1. J Chromatogr 1983;279:365–372.
