- Crunchy, tasty - Milled but not crushed - Stable - Great tasting on their own or with cereals As most of the oils we eat contain little Omega 3 (except Canola oil which is not a rich source). Unless you are taking fish or Flaxseed oil daily , the Omega 3 Fat in your diet will not give you the best Omega 3 to 6 ratio for optimum health. Modern diet averages a 1:20 ratio, not enough to give deficiency but not optimum either. Scientists recommend that an intake ratio of 1:4 is the ideal. It is not easy to achieve this ratio based on the common food we eat. Hence many people choose to supplement their diet with Fish oil (may be contaminated with heavy metals) or Flaxseed capsules to improve Omega 3 daily intake for better functioning of the body. But to get the 1:4 ratio you will need to reduce the normal fats that you are eating and replace them with Flaxseed oil. It is highly recommended that anyone above 12 years of age should consume at least 1 table spoonful of Flaxseed oil daily for better intake of Omega 3 fat. It may be interesting to know Omega 3 fat plays such an important role in Human evolution that it is responsible for our brain size increase during the early stages. Additional Note: Omega 3 oil become rancid (form free radicals) when exposed to air at room temperature. This product should be kept refrigerated all the time, after opening. Usage: 1-2 tbsp. per day. Add to blender drinks, baking, or sprinkle on cereal. To ensure freshness after opening, keep refrigerated or store in freezer. Certified-organic flax seeds carefully chosen for nutritional value and taste. Cold milling chops the seed without heating the mill blades, so the essential fatty acids remain intact. The flax is not crushed, so the precious oil is retained. Vacuum-packed in 1 lb. lined, resealable foil bag to retain freshness. Flax seeds offer both lignans and essential fatty acids (EFA's). EFA's are essential for maintaining good health by acting as building blocks in cell membranes and aiding in the production of hormone-like substances that are necessary for energy metabolism.* Flax seed also contains high concentrations of lignans, making it the richest available source. Plant lignans are converted in the colon by bacterial fermentation into a form of lignans that can be used by humans. Lignans are structurally similar to estrogens and work within the body to balance estrogen levels.* Scientific References 1. World Review of Nutrition and Dietics, Vol. 83 1998.
